The United Nations was founded on good principles; that it has chiefly become a body dedicated to ignoring these ideals and dismantling them is not the fault of the principles themselves, but of the many nations that deny their importance. Here is Canadian prime minister Stephen Harper reminding us of their importance to human civilization at a time when it faces an extreme threat; it is a speech he delivered to the U.N. General Assembly on September 25th, 2014 (during the Jewish holiday of Rosh HaShanah). Here it is for the record:
