Ann & Nancy Wilson (Heart): Stairway To Heaven
In this video, Ann & Nancy Wilson of the band Heart, backed up by a choir and a small orchestra, perform Led Zeppelin’s Stairway to Heaven, one of the best-known and most-aired rock songs ever written. This tribute performance, from the Opera House in the Kennedy Center, Washington, DC, on December 2, 2012, was for the three living band members of the British rock band: Robert Plant (singer), Jimmy Page (guitarist) and John Paul Jones (bassist and keyboardist).
Missing here is original band member, John Bonham (drummer), who died accidentally on September 25, 1980. After his death, the band, dating to 1968, decided to disband. In this performance, the drummer is Jason Bonham, son of John Bonham. How fitting and touching.
Other Kennedy Center honorees in 2012, the 35th annual tribute, were Buddy Guy (blues guitarist), Dustin Hoffman (film actor & director), David Letterman (comedian and TV host) and Natalia Makarova (ballerina & choreographer).
