George Harrison: What Is Life (1971)
George Harrison [1943–2001] sings “What is Life” in this 1971 single from the 1970 triple album, All Things Must Pass. The song has been described by various music critics and academics as either a love song or a devotional song. It seems to have elements of both, but then again I am not a music critic. What I do know is that this a good song that makes me happy when I am feeling sad, so it is a happy song on a sad day. Such is life. George Harrison died of cancer; he was 58.
What is Life
by George Harrison
What I feel, I can't say
But my love is there for you anytime of day
But if it's not love that you need
Then I'll try my best to make everything succeed
Tell me, what is my life without your love
Tell me, who am I without you, by my side
What I know, I can do
If I give my love now to everyone like you
But if it's not love that you need
Then I'll try my best to make ev'rything succeed
Tell me, what is my life without your love
Tell me, who am I without you, by my side
Tell me, what is my life without your love
Tell me, who am I without you, by my side
What I feel, I can't say
But my love is there for you any time of day
But if it's not love that you need
Then I'll try my best to make everything succeed
Tell me, what is my life without your love
Tell me, who am I without you, by my side
Oh tell me, what is my life without your love
Tell me, who am I without you, by my side
What is my life without your love
Tell me, who am I without you, by my side
[fade:]
Oh tell me, what is my life without your love
Tell me who am I without you by my side
